Phil & Monique: Tech Revolution

FADE IN:

INT. MUSEUM CONFERENCE - GRAB-AND-GO CAFE - DAY

Sitting at a corner table are MONIQUE, exhibition developer wise beyond her years, and PHIL, anxious independent museum consultant.

MONIQUE: [Sips matcha.] A huge tech revolution is coming to the museum world, you know.

PHIL: Maybe.

MONIQUE: What do you mean?

PHIL: [Sips coffee.] I’m not sure which tech revolution you’re talking about. But in my time, there have been hundreds of tech revolutions, names you would know. They were going to change everything. Then they disappeared.

MONIQUE: Such as?

PHIL: Oh, lots. AltaVista.

MONIQUE: Alta what?

PHIL: My point exactly.

MONIQUE: That’s just one example. This time is different.

PHIL: Well, there’s also … AOL, Betamax, Blackberry, Flappy Bird, FTX, Gawker, Google Glass, Google Plus, HD DVD, Hoverboard, Jawbone, Juicero, LaserDisc, MapQuest, Minidisc, MoviePass, MySpace …

MONIQUE: OK, fair point. [Sips matcha.]

PHIL: … Napster, Netscape, Palm Pilot, Pebble Smartwatch, Qwikster, Sega Dreamcast, Segway, Snapchat Spectacles, Theranos, TiVo, Vine ... [Sips coffee.]

MONIQUE: Wait, have you been talking … in alphabetical order?

PHIL: … and Zip Drives.

MONIQUE: …

FADE OUT.
