Phil & Monique: How to Label Letters

FADE IN:

INT. MUSEUM CONFERENCE - GRAB-AND-GO CAFE - DAY

Waiting in a long line are MONIQUE, exhibition developer wise beyond her years, and PHIL, anxiety-prone independent museum consultant.

PHIL: My client’s exhibition of rare letters isn’t working, and I’m supposed to tell them how to fix it!

MONIQUE: Not working?

PHIL: The letters are handwritten and hard to read. So they added label panels to every letter. But the panels look like the letters. The whole exhibit is beige. Visitors don’t know what to look at!

MONIQUE: Clearly, they should add even more labels, to explain the labels that explain the letters.

PHIL: …

MONIQUE: …

PHIL: Wait. You’re joking, right?

MONIQUE: 100%. But seriously, they should make the case backgrounds dark. And make labels the same dark color. With white text. Oh, and have all the text in one band along the bottom, so there are fewer shapes in the case. So now the letters will look great. And the visitors will get it. And this advice is totally worth a coffee.

PHIL: …

BARISTA: What can I get you?

MONIQUE: Venti Americano with oat milk, please. He’s paying.

PHIL: (Reaches for wallet.)

FADE OUT.
