Spending is Good

This might seem a little crazy. But stick with me.

Spending is good.

Exhibition and experience project budgets are meant to be spent. We acquired our budget to use it, to achieve a goal for our visitors.

The more we spend, the more we get.

The bigger our investment, the bigger our return.

The more we put in, the more we get out.

Here’s why I’m making a fuss about this: sometimes we get caught up in the urge to pinch pennies. We feel like we should cut costs, find bargains, or stretch the budget — as if doing so is its own reward.

I get it. But this is not a grocery trip.

If we take our budget and use it as cheaply as we can, rather than boldly in service of a goal, we are just making a poor investment.

Here’s the thing:
Spending is the way we achieve our goal on behalf of our visitors. Cut costs wisely if you are over budget. Otherwise, don’t.

Spending is good.

Warmly,
Jonathan
